Run in a window, for some reason windowed mode ran significantly faster. I really only have two tips, the rest doesn't really matter. Both Steam and gog.com provide linux installations so this part should be the easy part! I did this several times getting this to work, shouldn't cause any problems. If something goes really wrong just power the chromebook off and on by holding the power button. On my chromebook F1 and F2 are left and right arrows. Once trusty is up and running you can switch back and forth from ChromeOS to Trusty using ctrl-alt-shift-F1 and ctrl-alt-shift-F2. Sudo startxfce4 -X xorg run trusty with xorg explicitly Sudo startxfce4 -X xiwi run trusty with xiwi So when you get to the linux installation part, this is the line I used: sudo sh ~/Downloads/crouton -r trusty -t xfce,xorg,xiwi -n xfce Basically this will install ubuntu 14.04 (trusty), using xfce as the gui (nice and lightweight), then installs xorg and xiwi (left xiwi in for the option and convenience, but xorg should default). To run terraria you need hardware acceleration and you get it through xorg. A fair number of the guides I saw suggested a configuration that isn't going to work for Terraria- basically xiwi.
